Matt White Architects is a creative architectural practice, based in Hackney, London, that is committed to delivering engaging buildings for both private and commercial clients.
We work closely with our clients and consultants to realise the full potential of each project within its unique context. Possibilities are explored with a thorough and critical appraisal of site and brief, before the emerging designs are refined, ensuring that thoughtful and responsive solutions are always reached.
We bring years of experience across varied sectors – ranging from large scale private housing developments to interior fit outs for restaurant and retail stores - and have particular expertise in securing planning permission for new proposals on tight urban sites.
We believe that a close-knit team is key to the successful outcome of each project and have built a strong network of talented consultants and collaborators, who are crucial to the design process and the effective communication of the finished building.
Matt studied architecture at Westminster University and the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, graduating in 1994. Following his studies, he worked at several architectural practices including Tony Fretton Architects and Hawkins Brown. He was then a founding director at White Adamski Architects for 10 years and Salt White Architects for 3 years before establishing Matt White Architects in 2019.
Matt has taught Diploma students at South Bank University and been an occasional critic at the Bartlett School of Architecture.
